School History
Pittsville School was originally Pittsville Central School in the early 1900's. The school was then located on Main St. In the early 1930's, a new 2 story brick school was built on Old Ocean City Road with grades 1 thru 12 attending. The last twelfth grade graduating class of Pittsville School was in 1975. The 2 story brick school was torn down and a new ultra modern one story school was built for grades kindergarten thru 8. The new school was opened to students in September 1981. In 2003, the pre-K thru grades 2 were transferred to the new Willards school, making Pittsville Elementary/Middle School just for grades 3 thru 8. In 2004 a new wing was added to be used for middle school students. The population for Pittsville in 2006 - 2007 was approximately 455 students and 65 staff members. |
